KAWASE Kohske
KAWASE Kohske Composer, Artist Born in 1970 in Kyoto, Raised in Tokyo, Japan Has been embarked on artistic activities from 2002. His works address the fusion of music with visual effects such as light, images, physical and scientific phenomenon and so on. His style has garnered attention for a richness and power that speaks to the inner world of viewers. He presented "BEARINGS GLOCKEN" in late 2006 in Tokyo. It's a musical instrument that performs automatically using ball bearings. In 2009 KAWASE announced the 2nd title model "BEARINGS GLOCKEN II" and it was selected the 13th Japan Media Arts Festival as one of jury recommended works (Art division/Installation). At end of the 2012, he announced installation work called "Hikari no Neiro: a tone of light" which was using 33 blinking light bulbs. The blinking-light sequences were synchronized with music that he wrote. It showed for Tokyo Skytree (the highest tower in Japan) for its first winter season since opening. The audience might feel warm and sacred atmosphere around his work. From Summer 2013, he joined the dance performance tour "LIVE BONE" as music composer with Kaiji Moriyama(dancer) and Kodue Hibino(Costume artist) run through Japan. This project is still on going. This Project had a chance to show in oversea: Bali, Jakarta, Singapore and Bangkok. In 2015 and 2019, KAWASE had composed soundtracks for the dance performance pieces called Kaiji MORIYAMA's "CIRCUS" and "NINJA" commissioned by The New National Theatre, Tokyo. From the 2016, starting new project called "Play A Light (Also Known As ROCKSTAR)." It can provide the system to the guitar players to play lighting-movements via guitar performance.
