Artist Profile

L.E.D.

They formed in 2000 with members who have careers in various fields, with Sato, Ota, and Kato at the center. Combining the ambient and minimal techno electronic atmosphere with the dynamism of a rock band, they deconstruct and reconstruct various elements through their unique organic filter. They unfold a cinematic soundscape that strongly inspires visuals, and began their activities mainly in live houses in Tokyo. In 2009, they released their first album "Gaia Dance," their first recorded work since the self-produced EP "Light Emitting Diode" in 2002. The collaboration with manga artist and filmmaker Katsuki Tanaka (album artwork, live VJ, music videos) gained attention. In 2010, they released their second album "elementum," which included the band's first vocal track, "I'll," featuring Ikuko Harada from Clammbon. In 2012, they released the live album "in the universe," mixed and mastered by Itsuki Masuko (ROVO, Dub Squad, etc.). In 2013, they released their third album "in motion," featuring guest appearances by Salyu and Shito (Kogami). They have also actively released other works, including an analog-limited remix EP featuring remixers Calm, moshimoss, YOGURT & KOYAS, and DJ Funnel. Since 2009, their live activities have become more active, performing at outdoor festivals such as "Asagiri JAM," "ITADAKI," and "NATURAL HIGH," as well as participating in MDT2014 organized by ROVO. They have expanded their scope of activities through collaborations with contemporary art emerging talent Kohei Nawa, providing background music for his production documentary videos, and having their music featured in the popular snowboard movie series "Car Danchi" by Neil Hartmann, who is also a snowboarder and photographer.
