Taichi Hikida

Taichi Hikida Born May 29, 1991 in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, Japan. Influenced by his grandmother and mother, who are both min'yo shamisen masters, he began playing the Tsugaru shamisen at the age of 9. 2006, he studied under Yoshihiro Fukui of the Fukui School of Tsugaru Shamisen. In 2012, he participated in the Tsugaru Shamisen Competition for the first time and won the first prize in the general category. He has performed a wide range of activities both in Japan and abroad, including original compositions, collaborations with performers and instruments from other genres, and participation in musical accompaniment for idol songs, anime, men's rhythmic gymnastics, period dramas, and other productions. He has established a new style of shamisen music performance that incorporates traditional and electric shamisen, dance, rock, and other styles. In addition to his solo activities, he is also a member of the "Sakura men," a handsome Japanese instrumental performance group from Avex Entertainment.
