Artist Profile

AkamatsuAkamatsu is a music project by Rémi Quéron, a French music composer and multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, synthesizer, harmonium, and xylophone. He was born in southwestern France and is a classically trained musician. His debut as Akamatsu came as one of participants of a compilation album 'Erik Satie et les Nouveaux Jeunes' together with internationally renowned neoclassical artists Nils Frahm, Rachel Grimes, Julia Kent, and Sylvain Chauveau. He also found influence in some works from music labels Morr Music and Warp Records, and released two electronica albums featuring finely calculated fantastic sounds on Arbouse Recordings. In 2021, he composed music for the contemporary dance piece 'Soccus' with the Murmuration company, and joined the Nantes radio station, JetFM, and began to produce several musical creation programs including 'L'oreille qui Traîne' as a duo with a music composer, Pauline Frémeau from Frehò. In 2024, Akamatsu released the third album 'Seminky', which means 'seed' in the Czech language, on the base of the acoustic instruments together with some instrument players from France and The Czech Republic such as Suzanne Fischer on cello, Fabrice Bony on drums, Petr Tichý on bass, and Jono Heyes on guitar, on Ricco Label. This album brought out a rich sound created by the fusion of electronica, classical, and jazz.
