kukatachii is a pop dance band formed in Tokyo, Japan. The band consists of vocalist Yudai, keyboardist Yui, guitarist Prof.O, bassist KAJ, and drummer Takt. The band name derives from "Kukatachi", which was a spiritual trial for judging honesty in ancient Japan. The lead vocalist Yudai is a true history enthusiast and this can be seen not only in the band name but also in some of their musical works. Their music includes diverse mix of genres such as electro-pop, rock, R&B, soul, funk and all kinds that are interpreted and finished in their own new style. Yudai, the androgynous front man with his gentle high tone voice creates a unique and emotional atmosphere, attracting attention of audience. The band's wide range of musical style and their intense live performance has been livening up venues both at home and overseas. Including the track "Love today", which was used for an apparel nationwide television commercial, the band's danceable and fashionable songs are highly regarded from many creators. In 2017 July, the band performed at France Japan Expo for 2 days (1 show/day). The band's super danceable and emotional performance livened up the venue and entertained approximately 2,000 people/show. In 2018 Feb, the band was an opening act for E-kids, one of the most popular dance group in Hong Kong, at the McPherson Stadium. Currently, the band hosts a radio show "Getsu-Kuka!" broadcasted in Hokkaido, the FM 82.5 North Wave. kukatachii is set to release a long-waited new song titled "Passerby" on April 6, 2018. It is a dance tune with a music clip featuring two gay dancers and Yudai vogueing. Stay tuned!!
