okkaaa

"okkaaa" is an artist/song-writer based in Tokyo, born in 1999. He is known for his signature sophisticated and mellow sounds, as well as his philosophical lyricism rooted in a multitude of genres such as hip hop, R&B and gospel. Inspired by artists such as Daniel Caesar, Hikaru Utada and writer Haruki Murakami, okkaaa produces culture of the next generation at the frontline and crosspoint of various styles of music and art. In February 2019, "citycity" made the Spotify Japan Viral 50 chart, and in July 2019, he was featured on the cover of Spotify's "Early Noise" project. His viral single 積乱雲 (seki-ran-un) has been picked as one of "Japan's hottest songs of 2019" by multiple curators, and his music has garnered support from Japan's hottest producers, including Grammy nominated producer/DJ starRo. His independent stance paves the way for the future generation of young Japanese producers and artists, and his edgy, diverse collaborations prove that his fluid artistry has no borders. ​ ​ ​
