Artist Profile

cru

Cru is a contemporary/experimental music project which records the improvisational performances by Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata who are composers from from Anoice, an instrumental music band featuring a magnificent cinematic sound and also the side projects such as RiLF and Films. Most music by Cru is begins life as a improvisational performance using piano, organ and other acoustic instruments. After recording the performances in a concert hall or outside environment, they then processes and carefully layers these sounds to obtain the perfect combination. Works of Cru is completed by utilising the maximum potential of a variation of acoustic instruments and natural field recordings, reslting in a tense atmosphere, which could be felt in their first album 're-Silence', recorded at the large concert hall and a solitary house which is model of the violin atelier that appears in movie by Studio Ghibli. This album includes the soundtrack for the short film 'Internet is a Desert' directed by Can Evgin 2011, and received an award at the Venice International Short Film Festival. In 2021, Cru released their second album 'music from the underground' which is also their first work in 15 years. It was recorded from their improvisations in the third basement floor of a large concert hall during their free time whilst recording works for Anoice's forthcoming new album. However, Cru's songs have thrilling yet beautiful sounds which differ from the precisely-designed creations from their bands such as Anoice, RiLF, and Films, and also their individual solo projects.
